SOUTH HAVEN, Mich. (NewsNation Now) — Emergency crews in Western Michigan have spent the last two days searching for a possible drowning victim in Lake Michigan.
Authorities said two men were stuck Sunday afternoon, hanging on a buoy on the lake.
After the first man was rescued, he told crews that his friend tried to swim to shore, but never resurfaced.
Crews spent hours looking for him Sunday but suspended the search in the evening because conditions became too dangerous. They restarted Monday, but didn’t find him.
Red flags were flying along the lake Monday, warning of dangerous conditions, but some people were swimming anyway, NewsNation affiliate WOOD-TV reported.
