(NewsNation Now) — Talking about suicide can be an uncomfortable conversation but as we continue to navigate the coronavirus pandemic, experts and those affected by suicide say it’s a much-needed discussion.

According to AFSP, suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the United States.

There are people across the country working to break the stigma around suicide. The issue has become more prominent during the COVID-19 pandemic. Following social distancing guidelines to prevent the spread of the coronavirus can lead to symptoms of depression and suicidal thoughts.
