Supreme Court, pandemic were big issues at debate between Tillis, Cunningham

RALEIGH, N.C. (NewsNation Now) — Incumbent Sen. Thom Tillis squared off with Democrat Cal Cunningham for the second of three North Carolina Senate race debates on Tuesday.

Both candidates discussed their stances on the pandemic, education, health care, and the replacement process for late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

Tillis, a Republican, is seeking a second term in office.

Cunningham is a former North Carolina state senator and he unsuccessfully ran for the U.S. Senate in 2010.

The debate was held at NewsNation affiliate WNCN/CBS 17 studios in Raleigh, NC and broadcast to Nexstar Media Group stations across the state.
