Waffle House partners with GA brewery to create ‘breakfast beer’

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (NewsNation Now) — ‘Beer for Breakfast’ isn’t just a 90’s alternative rock song. Waffle House has partnered with a Georgia-based brewing company to create ‘Bacon & Kegs,’ a bacon-infused red ale.

The Oconee Brewing Company developed the dark red ale with a scent and bacon flavor blended right into the beer base.

“The beloved scent of bacon stands out from the typical medium hop aroma of a red ale. The malty sweetness of the base beer blends perfectly with the salty, savory, and smokey bacon extract to create a delicious and unique beer. Bacon & Kegs pairs well with breakfast food items (obviously!) or can be enjoyed as a stand-alone, soon to be iconic beer,” Oconee Brewing Company said on its website.

It will be available in six packs and draft, including growlers, for a limited time starting Dec. 18.

Don’t expect to see it at stores anytime soon. The beer will only be sold at the brewery in Greensboro, Georgia and according to Georgia state law, breweries cannot ship their products directly to customers.
