ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (NewsNation Now) — A New Mexico man is drawing attention from around the world after he transformed his home into a winter wonderland.
Jared Trujillo decorated his Albuquerque home with thousands of lights ahead of Thanksgiving this year, in an attempt to spread some holiday cheer. The display took about 18 hours to set up, he said.
“The world is crazy right now. A lot of sadness and uncertainty, so doing this this year just means a lot because I see my neighbors walk by and they always comment when I’m putting it up about how much they love it,” Trujillo told NewsNation affiliate KRQE.
His display features several inflatable decorations, glowing snowmen and even a mailbox for letters to Santa. It’s been featured in several U.S. media outlets, as well as in Australia and Malaysia.
Trujillo said he’s surprised by all of the attention, and thankful for the opportunity to lift people’s spirits this holiday season.
“It was never the intention to spread a worldwide joy but it does give a lot of happiness to me,” he said. “My daughter loves it. She’s loves seeing it on TV or in the videos.”
