Disbarred South Carolina attorney Alex Murdaugh, already convicted in the murders of his wife and youngest son, pleaded guilty to numerous federal financial charges Thursday. Though there was no known evidence linking any Murdaugh family members to Smith’s death, Alex Murdaugh’s surviving son, Buster, was a classmate of Smith’s. Smith's cousin Josh Carroll told "Banfield" on Thursday night that his family remains "hopeful" as it pertains to the ongoing investigation. The Marion County Sheriff’s Office in Indiana is searching for murder suspect Kevin Mason, who they say was mistakenly released Sept. 13 due to what appears to be a clerical error. Prison expert Anthony Gangi sheds light on the search and questions the oversight process in place.

A jury could not reach a verdict in the trial of a man whose beating and robbery of a Delaware jewelry shop owner was captured on video. Investigators allege Calvin Ushery attacked 68-year-old Chang Suh in September of last year, pointing to video that shows Suh being hit with a hammer and stomped on multiple times.
